FLACKWELL HEATH CHERRY FAYRE 2013

On Tuesday 3rd September with the proceeds from this year’s Cherry Fayre, Terry Darby and Graham Parsons from the Flackwell Heath Cherry Fayre Committee proudly presented £1750 each to the local branch of Age Concern and to Oasis, the local charity helping people cope with bereavement. Receiving the cheques are Barry Walmsley, Chair of the local branch of Age Concern and Reverend Chris Bull representing Oasis. Since its reintroduction in 2005, the Cherry Fayre has donated over £30,000 to local good causes and entertained over 50,000 people – a remarkable achievement. Sadly the 2013 Fayre was the last the current Cherry Fayre Committee, will be organising. Recent changes to the Recreation Ground with a reduction in available space mean that it is no longer viable to run the event in its current format. The Race Night planned for November and next February’s Quiz night will, however go ahead as planned, and the profits raised given to another locally-based charity.
