Flackwell Heath Minors were formed in 1967 by brothers
Geoff and Tony Springell, who had both played for the senior
club.
They took on a successful team who had been
playing for Carrington School. From one team, the club has
grown to under 6's through to under 17's and in their formative
years, they were very successful and won numerous trophies.
They were the 'Manchester United' of their day who everybody
wanted to beat.
The most successful year came in 1974, when
the under 18 team, managed by Vernon Roberts, won all the
trophies they entered for, including the prestigious Berks
and Bucks Minor Cup and were runners-up the following year.
Every May bank holiday for the last decade,
they have held a very successful six-a-side competition at
Green Dragon Lane, one of the largest and best organized in
the south east.
Neil Cordice, Kevin Keen and Mark West all went
on to professional football.
